Although storage cabinets are the best for keeping things out of sight, garage shelves are perfect for the places that cabinets won't work. My favorite way to do this...mount storage shelves just above your garage door and utilize ceiling storage...mount drop down shelves that hang just above your open garage door.

Plastic Free Standing Shelving Units If you want shelving units for the floor these are great because they are lightweight and durable. Alternative to the floor cabinet storage. Because they are not enclosed, totes(link) or bins (link) would be a great way to disguise your items!
Wood Shelves The great thing about wood shelves is that you can make them yourself. Wood does have more maintenance than other materials. Because wood can warp due to humidity and moisture the wood must be sealed before it is painted.
