Are Metal Storage Cabinets Right for You?(My Favorite!) Metal storage cabinets are my favorite! I started with wood cabinets, and finally made the switch to Craftsman Steel Cabinets...I LOVE them! I am slowly adding more pieces to my collection.
I'll be honest, I didn't really think too long or hard about what kind of cabinets to get. Like I said, I started with wood cabinets that were of a "lesser quality." I purchased them from the local Menard's and they were ready to be finished. I didn't do anything special to them, just added paint and slapped them up. I should have finished them correctly or made my own, but I wanted the instant gratification. They were functional, but not the look I had always hoped to have. Then, lo and behold, one day I recevied the new Sears Craftsman catalog. (The catalog I dream and drool over) Well, lets just say that it makes Christmas and Birthday shopping easy for my Wife! I saw their new line of Garage and Workshop Storage and I was in Heaven!!
I am going to try and not get off the beaten path too much, but I Love my cabinets. Because of the high prices of steel, this is not a cheap set. I tried to point out to my wife that there are more expensive brands, but I just got "the look." :)
So, as I add piece by piece, I am anxiously waiting for my cabinets to be complete. Now, I usually wait for Sears to have the 10% off Saturday sales they often have. I just order it online with in-store pick up. I go to the Sears pick up door, enter my phone number at the little kiosk and "Voila" a guy comes walking out with my cabinet and loads it in my truck! No waiting in line to pay, no fighting crowds. If my wife is birthday shopping, she still orders online but waits for less busy weekday traffic for picking up...but I can't wait that long! Ok, now that I have let you know what kind of cabinets are my favorite, I will get to the pros and cons so YOU can decide for yourself.
