This is especially a good idea if you have children that may be accessing your storage area. There are so many things in the garage or workshop that should be locked up that we don't even think about. Especially if you have kids. They can get to things that you have no clue how they would even find it.
My twin nephews got a hold of a stick of butter one day and "painted" mom's new couch with it! Neither parent knows how they got that butter...but the point is that they did. Granted, a stick of butter is not a safety issue...unless you consider mom's wrath when she saw the "painting!" But anything in your garage is open season for anyone to touch, pick up or play with. Even the neighbor's kids can pop in your garage when you are inside dropping off a bag of groceries or getting a drink. So, as my dad always said: "better to be safe than sorry."
Well, lets start with the obvious. Most people have poisons in their garage. Fertilizer, bug sprays, mouse poison, etc. Others include: Solvents like kerosene and paint thinners
